Start Line Studio

Websites for businesses with things to do

Your website should do the work.

We build sites that take the booking, sell the painting, enter the runner and tell your staff what happens next. Fixed price, and you own all of it.

Right now, our sites are

The work

A cross-section of what we build.

These are examples, not the full list. No two are alike, so open them on your phone and see the range.

Why we're different

We learned this on the start line.

We've run more than 300 events since 2012, with hundreds of people waiting at the start and no chance of a second go. So we build the way race day taught us to.

It has to work on the day

We check the real thing on the live site, on real phones, before we call it finished.

Your staff can run it

If a task happens every day, it gets a simple phone screen, not a manual.

You own all of it

Your name on the domain, your account, your code. Leave whenever you like and take it with you.

Running costs stay low

You pay the suppliers directly at their prices. We add nothing on top.

Prices

Three sizes. One fixed price.

You'll know the full price before we start. Domain, hosting and card fees go directly to the supplier, in your name.

Care Plan, £25 a month

We watch the site, keep backups and make small changes. It's optional and you can stop any time.

How it works

Six splits to the finish.

  1. 01The chat

Half an hour on what your business needs the site to do.

  2. 02Your plan and fixed price

We write down what's included and what isn't, with one fixed price. A 50% deposit starts the work.

  3. 03The mock-up

A clickable version on a private address, with two rounds of changes included.

  4. 04The build

Made in your own accounts from day one, so nothing has to be moved later.

  5. 05The checks

Phones, payments, forms and security, tested with real journeys on the real site.

  6. 06Live and handed over

You pay the final 50%, the site goes live and you get a plain-English handover pack.

Good questions

Before you ask.

Who owns the website?

You do, once the final payment is made. The domain and accounts are in your name from the start, and the contract says so in plain English.

What will it cost me each month?

That depends on what the site does, and we'll list it in your plan before you commit. You pay those suppliers directly. The Care Plan is optional.

What happens if you disappear?

Everything is in your accounts, and the handover pack is written so another developer can take over. That's a promise we design around from the first day.

Can you replace the site I already have?

Yes. Abrahams Gallery moved its artwork across from its old site. Tell us what you have, and we'll tell you what can come with you.

What's that small credit in the footer?

A small "Site by Start Line Studio" line is how new customers find us. It's agreed in your contract, and it won't get in the way of your brand.
